Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 27, 2026
Parkle ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Parkle mobile app. This policy explains what
information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Parkle, you agree
to this policy.
Who can use Parkle
Parkle is for adults 18 and older only. We collect your birthdate at sign-up to confirm this —
it is never shown on your profile, only your calculated age.
Information we collect
You provide most of this directly when you create and build your profile:
- Account information: your email address and password.
- Profile information: display name, birthdate, bio, photos, gender and who
you're interested in, your home park or city, favorite parks and rides, park-type tags, and
any profile prompts you choose to answer.
- Location: if you tap "Set My Location" in Edit Profile, we ask your device
for a one-time GPS reading and store its coordinates, to compute the distance between you and
other users. This is entirely optional and off by default — see "Location data" below for
exactly how it's used and protected.
- Activity information: your likes, passes, Super Likes, Intro messages,
matches, chat messages, group memberships and group messages, and referral codes.
- Safety information: blocks and reports you file, and reports filed against
you, so we can review them.
- Device information: a push notification token, only if you grant
notification permission, so we can alert you to new matches and messages; and basic crash
diagnostics (no message content or photos) if the app misbehaves.
- Payment information: if you subscribe to Parkle Premium, your payment is
handled entirely by Apple, Google, our subscription platform (RevenueCat) for app purchases,
or Stripe for purchases made on parkle.app — we never see or store your card details.
How we use your information
- To operate matching, messaging, and group features.
- To calculate compatibility and distance between you and other users.
- To enforce blocking, reporting, and other safety features, and — where the law requires it
— to report illegal content to the appropriate authorities.
- To send you push notifications about matches and messages, if enabled.
- To respond to support requests.
- To improve and maintain the app.
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
What other users can see
Other users can see the profile information you choose to share — display name, age, bio,
photos, prompts, home/destination park, favorite parks, and any verified or Founding Member
badge. If you've set a location, others see a computed distance (like "12 miles away"), never
your exact coordinates. Your birthdate, email, password, exact location, and payment details
are never shown to any other user.
Location data
Setting your location is entirely optional and always your choice — nothing happens automatically or in the background.
- We request your device's location only when you explicitly tap "Set My Location," and only once per tap — not continuous or background tracking.
- Your exact coordinates are stored privately and are never shown to any other user, including your matches.
- You can update or leave your location unset at any time from Edit Profile. Without it, you'll still be matched with people at the same park as you.
Who we share information with
We use a small number of service providers to run Parkle, each only with the access they need:
- Supabase — our backend database, authentication, and photo storage.
- Expo / Apple / Google — deliver push notifications to your device.
- RevenueCat, Apple, and Google — process subscription payments made in the app; we never receive your card details.
- Stripe — processes subscription payments made on parkle.app; we never receive your card details.
- Sentry — receives crash/error diagnostics (no message content or photos) so we can fix bugs.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the safety of any person, or to enforce our Terms of Service.
Your choices and rights
- You can edit or remove most profile information at any time from within the app.
- You can turn your location on or off, or update it, at any time from Edit Profile.
- You can block or report any user, before or after matching, and inside group chats.
- You can turn off push notifications in your device settings at any time, and group notifications specifically from Profile settings.
- You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from
Profile → Delete Account, right inside the app. This immediately and permanently removes
your profile, photos, matches, messages, location, and everything else — there's no recovery period.
- Do Not Sell: we don't sell personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of — this applies whether or not your state's privacy law requires the disclosure.
- EU/UK/California residents have additional rights under GDPR/CCPA, including requesting a copy of your data or asking us to delete it outside the in-app tool. Contact us below to exercise these.
Data security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted storage and
access controls that limit who can read your data. No method of transmission or storage is
100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we'll notify affected users if we
become aware of a breach affecting their information, as required by law.
Children's privacy
Parkle is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from
anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the
date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
